Last week Avery Barnett received a report of a go-cart or a golf cart crossing Split Rail in front of a car. Fortunately for everyone involved the driver was cautious, not distracted by their phone, and able to react quickly to avoid striking the children on the cart.
I personally experienced a similar event recently. A child on a mini motorcycle flew through an intersection directly in front of my vehicle. My heart raced at the thought of what could have happened. It was only fortune that this near miss was not a terrible accident.
It is only a matter of time before the unthinkable occurs. The combination of distracted drivers and unlicensed children drivers will eventually culminate in a tragedy. If you are a parent, please ask yourself if it is worth the risk.
All cart owners are responsible for following all applicable rules and regulations regarding their vehicles. Please see this MSHP flier regarding ATVs and similar vehicles.
Please be safe on the roads!
